WJ9J DTMF Decoder / Controller

Ordering information (link) at the bottom of the page.

What is it, and what does it do?

This device will take DTMF (Touch Tone®) audio from a receiver, cell phone, or anything, and decode the DTMF digits in a way that enable you to remotely control electrical and electronic devices. Applications and implementations are limitless and up to the individual.

Additionally, the controller is setup to work as an accessory board to an existing controller as a remote base controller. It can control ICOM radios through the use of CI-V. It also can control any radio that has memory channels that can be changed with an up button on a microphone.

  • You do this using DTMF from your transceiver.
  • A receiver or transceiver is hooked to this board so that its audio feeds this board. The board listens for DTMF in the audio and then does what you tell it to do via DTMF
  • The board has a transponder function so if it’s hooked to a transceiver, it can tell you the status of the controlled relays with beeps, and can also send your call sign in CW.
  • This way you can tell it did exactly as you requested and that your signal was decoded.
  • Power required: Between 7 and 20 volts at 8 mA. (Nominally 12 to 14 volts is used.)
  • You can also measure a voltage remotely and it will send the value (0-20V) back in CW.
  • Output 8 can optionally be assigned to generate audio out.
  • Output 7 can optionally be assigned for duty as a PTT (push to talk) for a transmitter to have output status, command confirmation and CW ID’s transmitted.
  • Output 6 can optionally be used as a directional relay (CCW) for Rotator control with A/D feedback.
  • Output 5 can optionally be used for an analog to digital input with 10 bit resolution, allowing you to measure voltages remotely from 0-20 Volts. Great for solar sites!
  • All of the features can be programmed and changed via DTMF. You don’t need a computer to change.
  • All changes are saved and do not reset during a power failure.
  • Many other features not listed here.
